The Head and The Heart
Sometimes the words come before the heart knows it needs them...

If we take a moment's pause, remember to breathe, remember the courage we have in our cells right now... to keep breathing, keep going, to look to a higher strength, we can find that power. As a certain psalmist said, "Lead me to the rock that is higher than I am." There is strength in humility. And there is peace. There is dignity in the quiet courage of every breath we take. Every foot forward. The strength of The Rock breaks the surging waters from pulling us under. From the vantage point of the rock, we find that help is all around us.

Recently, some of my dearest friends reached out to me, saying just what I needed, just when I needed it. In each of these moments, honestly, I was taken back by the accuracy and timing of their words. Reaching me at critical moments, that I can only attribute to a Higher Power, as none were aware of what I needed to hear, nor were they aware of their timing.
Ironically, I did the same thing to myself, for I first wrote this from a completely different perspective. I had no idea I would be the one who would desperately be needing these words. In a way, it is as if I wrote a letter to my future self, asking her to accept help, the hardest thing for me to do. Perhaps I first had to ask myself for permission.
In any case, this has served to remind me not only the need of accepting help, but also remembering to help others and always show kindness. If someone randomly pops into mind, go ahead and send a kind word of encouragement to them. Tell them that they are loved. That they matter. That their feelings matter. That they are not alone. You never know when you'll be saving their day... or saving their life.
Heaven and earth are nearer each other than you think...
